Opening for the season
Saturday May 11th to Sept 1st 2019
Craftship Enterprise will be reopening on Saturday May 11th. The Craft shop and the Cafe will be open from 11.30am to 15.30pm
The “Crafteria” will be serving homemade lunches and teas with a wide selection of teas and coffees.
There will be lots of new craft workshops this year but still some of the old favourites such as peg looming and glass fusion.
1. Stained and fused glass with Rosalind
For beginners as well as the more experienced. The stained glass course cover glass scoring and cutting, soldering (usingcopper foil, not lead) and assembly. You will get advice on pattern design and can make a light catcher or a small glass panel to take home at the end of the two days.
The fused glass workshop covers the techniques to help you make your own piece of jewellery (necklace or earrings) or you can make a coaster or small decorative wall panel.
Those of you who have been on Rosalind’s courses before know how relaxing and rewarding making your own piece of glass art can be.

2. Introduction to Fibre Hooking
Learn how to hook yarns using a simple crochet hook on hessian and various up-cycled yarns or fabrics using your own unique design to decorate a small hessian bag

3 Sand art for kids

4. Peg looming weaving.
In this class you will learn how to create a circular piece of weaving on a peg loom using locally-sourced fleeces in natural and hand dyed colours

5. Iris folding
Invented in the Netherlands this relaxing paper craft uses strips of paper to build pictures for greeting cards or picture frames. You will learn the basics on a standard template and then you can choose from hundreds of designs (animals, birds, vehicles, Christmas decorations etc) to make a product unique to you.

Embroidery greeting cards
You will learn the technique on a basic template then select from a huge selection of patterns to craft your own design. This involves pricking out the outline pattern then sewing between the lines to produce a picture. These can then be attached to a greeting card or placed in a frame,

In a restored chapel on the beautiful island of Stronsay, Craftship Enterprise is a unique visitor centre for all ages to enjoy crafting. Whether you are experienced or a complete beginner, you can create greeting cards , quick knits, pictures, bunting and so much more.
Depending on the time you have, you can choose from our prepared “make and take kits” or select from our stock to make something individual and special. There are plenty of examples on display to give you inspiration and we will be adding new techniques on a regular basis.
Most importantly, we wish you to have an experience which is informal and fun. So you can drop in for a couple of hours or organise a stay for a couple of days. The craft room is full of light from its 16feet high windows and stocked with paper, card, trimmings, beads and buttons and all pretty bright things for you to make something special.
Enjoy a snack or just a cup of coffee in our tea room with fantastic sea views while browsing through our library of craft magazines and books. Our shop is full of crafting supplies and affordable gifts.
Gift vouchers are available and will make a great present for a day out.
